Dot Dictation
Data safety
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Microphone
The microphone is used only during a dictation session. The keyboard shows the recording state and the session can be stopped or cancelled.
Secure transmission
Audio is sent over HTTPS to the selected AI provider for transcription and, when requested, translation or refinement.
API credentials
Provider keys are encrypted on the device. Ordinary Android backup excludes them; eligible encrypted transfer may use Android Block Store.
Temporary files
Audio is deleted after success, cancellation or a final error. It may remain briefly in private app storage while waiting for a retry.
Content-free diagnostics
In version 2.52, diagnostics and statistics have separate consent, off by default. Audio, transcript text, API keys, conversation text and GPS are excluded. Withdrawal stops optional reporting and requests deletion of the backend profile.
User control
You can revoke microphone access, delete keys and app data, or disable backup and transfer from Android settings.
